Colour and repetitiveness and maybe a sneak preview.....

few pictures of my colour palette and my new silk material which is amazing and some pictures of my hook and eyes, that i've been making like crazy! also a sneak preview of one of the potential stackable bracelets, hope you like.......

Busy, Busy, Busy!!

I went home for 2 weeks, to relax, which I needed!!!! but it wasn't all rest and relaxation, I finally sent my perspex domes off to the flockers, so fingers crossed, they come back amazing or there will be major tears. Sadly it wasn't all making and drawing, I had to write and research my business plan, its done!!!!!!! there was too many numbers involved for my liking, I bash metal and make pretty things, I was sat on my parents living room floor with lots of paper and a calculator, I don't think I've used a calculator since my GCSE's which was a fair few years ago, rant over as its DONE!
Anyway onto fun and colourful pieces, also while I was at my parents I have finally chosen my colour palette and also bought silk for my collection, the colours are inspired from me and my clothes and my love of clashing, so I feel its quite personal to me (pictures of silk and colours too come soon)
I decided to come back a week early from my Easter break, as the workshops were open up at folly so I took full advantage of this opportunity, and have been making my diamond shaped press forms as well as hook and eyes as a cold fixing method, extremely repetitive but really enjoyable to make! And I have sprayed the press forms, so I am waiting for them to dry, there so colourful all very exciting! soooooo been a very busy week, but I have nearly finished my stackable bracelets! Oooo also I will be playing around with magnets as a fastening method, and have found some really strong ones, so hopefully they will work and finish my pieces off.

Plastic or metal?

I have been playing around with colour onto metal since my 2nd year. And I have finally put it to good use within my 3rd year. In my first project of the 3rd year, I focused on flock and used 3 mains colours: turquoise, blue and pink (very Miami vice) But in my last ever uni project arghhhh! I'm going for it, as its my last project, sooooooo I have decided to use spray enamel, as I hate the proper way of enamelling (kilns are far too hot for my liking) plus the effect given is amazing. It looks like it could be plastic, but in fact the 3D hollow form is made from my favourite metal guilding metal and coated with a grey primer, then the spray enamel is applied. I am in love with this simple way off adding colour. watch this space more colours coming soon.

Design, design and ping pong ball madness!

Well my inspiration levels have been at an all time low, I forgot how I design. But after a group crit, the idea of painted footballs came up to help me visualise. Soooooooooo I ended up chopping ping pong balls and tennis balls up for quite a while, and painting them white so they are all neutral and boring!! I ended up pining them all over me in various ways. I think my creativity maybe back.........
